"This will be another record year for Carlson. Our momentum is in line with our plans to have more than 100 hotels across India by 2015," says CEO Hubert Joly. Carlson has 33 hotels currently in operation in India.
Carlson's India expansion is part of the overarching Ambition 2015 strategy to grow its global portfolio by at least 50% to more than 1,500 hotels by 2015. Growth will come both in top-tier markets and secondary cities, says Simon Barlow, president of Carlson Hotels in Asia Pacific.
The company has 15 India hotels open under the Radisson flag, with another 25 projects under contract. Eleven of those are scheduled to open this year, in Rudrapur, Uttar Pradesh, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Chennai, Ghaziabad, Goa, Noida, Haridwar, Hyderabad and Ranchi.
The midmarket Country Inns & Suites by Carlson brand has 10 properties open in India and a contracted pipeline of 13 more. Country Inns are slated to open in 2011 in Gurgaon and Mussoorie.
Six Park Plaza properties are open in India. Of the contracted pipeline of 13 more, five will open this year, in Bangalore, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, and two in New Delhi.
One Park Inn hotel is scheduled to open in 2011, in New Delhi, bringing the brand’s India portfolio to four, with two more in the pipeline.
