Hong Kong─based Langham Hotels International, owner and operator of luxury hotels, will open its first hotel in India on February 20, 2011.
Eaton Smart, New Delhi Airport Transit Hotel with 93─rooms will be located inside Terminal 3 of the new airport building of IGI Airport New Delhi. Plans are afoot to open properties in Pune and Lavasa, Maharashtra by 2013.
Speaking with Hospitality Biz, Brett Butcher, CEO, Langham Hotels International said, “India is one of the world's most robust and dynamic economies. By mid─decade, we plan to have half a dozen of hotels in India. We are an Asian company with European sense of hospitality and offer European luxury to our guests. The properties in India will be operated via management route.” Talking about the challenges in India, he added, “The quality of construction in India is not according to the international standards.”
