EMKE Group to invest Rs 600 crore for setting up international convention centre in Kochi

In one of the biggest ever hospitality investments in Kerala, UAE-based EMKE Group has announced their plans to set up an international convention centre in Kochi. The plan to invest Rs 600 crore for massive development project involving an international convention centre and hotel was announced by MA Yusuffali, Managing Director, EMKE Group at a press conference in Kochi yesterday.


The Group has already acquired 26 acre of land at Bolghatty island from Cochin Port Trust. The convention centre, with 4,000 pax capacity will be one of the largest convention centre in India, said Yusuffali. The centre will have the facility to organise 12 small and big meetings simultaneously.

The Group will commence the construction work in April 2011 and expects to complete the first phase of the project in two years time. Yusuffali said that with this project, the Group’s total investment in Kerala has risen to Rs 2,100 crore.
