Mercure sets out to conquer the United Kingdom

In the first two months of 2011, Accor announced that thirteen hotels will be added to the UK network by June this year, increasing the presence of the Mercure brand from 33 to 46 hotels.

In January, a franchise agreement was signed with Focus Hotels for ten Mercure hotels to join the UK network.

These hotels were launched last week under the Mercure banner, adding to the growing portfolio of Mercure hotels providing business and leisure facilities in fantastic locations around the UK, from elegant city-centre hotels to country manor house retreats.

This week, Mercure strengthened its dynamic expansion with another new franchise contract, this time with London Town Hotels, a British hotel operator since 1988.

This partnership will add three of their four-star hotels to the Mercure brand in the next four months, including two in prime central London locations. Mercure London Paddington Hotel will be launched in March 2011, with Mercure London Kensington Hotel and Mercure Nottingham Lace Market Hotel opening in June 2011.

Jean-Jacques Dessors, Chief Operating Officer of Accor UK and Ireland, had this to say: “This is the second deal with a well-known UK hotelier in less than two months. The agreements demonstrate Accor’s ability to choose strong franchise partners such as LTH to grow the Mercure brand in the UK market”.

Accor aims to expand its UK network to more than 300 hotels by 2015.
