Pacific Star, an Asia-focused real estate investment firm, said it would spend about $250 million to build a Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in Kyoto, betting on demand for upscale western-style lodging in Japan's ancient capital.
Pacific Star said the hotel would have 200 rooms and rank as the only five-star establishment in Kyoto, a popular tourist destination in western Japan known for its ancient temples and shrines. It aims to open the hotel in 2014.
