Job Description
The Human Resources Director is responsible for the property’s employee relations, labor relations, team building, training, benefits and personnel, with key responsibilities including budgeting, labor contract administrations, succession planning and more.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for the annual budget for the Human Resources Department.
a. Ensures the Job Compendium and salary ranges are current and competitive with the local market place.
b. Ensures the compensation program (including performance appraisals) is administered according to policies and procedures.
2. Reviews all requisitions, rate changes, and transfers.
a. Participates in the drafting and negotiation of new union contracts. Consults with attorneys as necessary. Dialogues with management and union representatives.
b. Administers union contracts. Oversees rate increases and wage diversions to benefits as negotiated in all CBAs.
c. Consults with attorneys on response to subpoena and request for documents, equal rights charges, and NLRB charges. Oversees unemployment claims and attends hearings as required.
d. Monitors disability leaves, maintains personal contact with employees by assisting and resolving discrepancies with any claim problems, maintains knowledge of insurance coverage, manages all medical correspondence.
e. Performs related duties as assigned by the General Manager and Corporate VP Human Resources.
Desired Skills & Experience
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors’ Degree required. SPHR preferred.
Five or more years of relevant human resources experience in the gaming, hospitality and/or service industry, with increasing levels of responsibility and supervision (4 years minimum leadership/management experience). Regional experience preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the overall direction of the Human Resources department. Responsibilities including hiring and training; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining staff, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to effectively communicate in English. Must be able to read and write simple lists, interoffice memorandums, and business correspondence.
Spanish speaking a plus.
