| WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide is launching a gas card promotion across its three select-service brands. Two-night stays at Starwood's Aloft, Element and Four Points by Sheraton hotels in the United States and Canada will earn a US$40 gas card redeemable at thousands of filling stations nationwide. At more than 150 Aloft, Element and Four Points hotels, guests who book by July 31 through a dedicated microsite, starwoodhotels.com/gas, will receive a gas card by mail from one of 11 participating retailers. After completing a two-night stay, guests will receive a PIN code by e-mail to activate their gas card. To qualify, guests must complete a stay of two consecutive nights by September 15. "Our specialty select hotels are all about making guests feel appreciated, and this promotion is one more way to make summer travel a little easier for them—and that much more fun," says Brian McGuinness, senior vice president of Starwood's specialty select brands. "Aloft, Element and Four Points have become traveler favorites by combining great guest experiences with exceptional value, and the gas card promotion reflects that dedication." According to GasBuddy.com, which tracks gasoline prices nationwide, the cost for a gallon of gas has climbed to more than US$4.15 in some parts of the United States. Gasoline prices on average have edged up at least 75 cents over last year, according to the Lundberg Survey, which tabulates prices at thousands of gas stations nationwide.
