Scope of Position:
Through supervision and organization, ensures that food is prepared and presented in accordance with the established standards and that a high degree of cleanliness exists throughout the Responsible for the a European (Dutch) culinary operation of specialty restaurant during shift worked. Liaise with Restaurant Manager regarding food preparation and presentation, with the Chief Steward to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards and with Engineering Department to ensure that all equipment is in proper order. Supervise, train team members.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will be a very talented cook who leads by example and also has a flair for dealing with guests. This person will have a relevant international 4 stars background.
Maintain departmental standards.
Lead and coach culinary team members to strive for excellence through passion and discipline.
Responsible for accurate ordering, according to business levels.
Train and educate employees on high standards and culinary techniques.
Monitor performance levels of all team members and act accordingly.
Work closely with the staff to ensure the high quality and consistency of food preparation and presentation.
Responsible for the day to day maintenance of labour and food cost controls.
Coach and mentor employees, creating an environment that allows employees to achieve job fulfillment and provides a path for career development with IFK Hotels.
Develop and implement initiatives to improve service by streamlining procedures and removing obstacles that hinder service delivery.
Ensure that all Health & Safety standards are met, procedures followed and that employees have the correct knowledge and tools to work safely.
Desired Skills & Experience
3 years Previous experience as a European (or Dutch) Chef
Enjoy creating and enhancing culinary style and exhibits passion for culinary arts
Able to develop strong work relationships with both Guests and Colleagues alike
Proven leadership ability that supports an environment of employee growth and development, interdepartmental teamwork and exceptional customer service
Diploma/Degree in Culinary Arts or related discipline an asset
Advanced certification in safety and sanitation from an accredited institution
Bilingualism an asset (Russian & English)
