Mast Kalandar, the vegetarian quick service restaurant owned by Spring Leaf Retail Pvt Ltd, is set to expand from 25 outlets at Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai to 100 outlets across the country by 2012.
The company has received its second fund infusion in 2010 from Helion Ventures Partners and Footprint Ventures and angel investor Salarpuria Group. The union government relaxation in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) rules is expected to witness considerable traction in the food retail sector.
Gaurav Jain, CEO, Mast Kalandar said, “The food retail industry is in an exciting phase in India. In the last five years, we have witnessed a sea change. There are several international brands which have already set shop here and many more to come in. The easing of FDI rules will see considerable traction with increased appetite for growth.”
