Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas to Debut 13th Annual Holiday Village and Host Interactive Gingerbread Decorating Class for Children. Holiday Village to d

The whimsical winter wonderland conceived by the renowned pastry chef at Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas and made entirely of gingerbread and chocolate will make its debut on November 26, 2011 to the delight of hotel guests and Las Vegas locals alike who eagerly anticipate this unique holiday display each year.

Created by Executive Pastry Chef Jean-Luc Daul and his talented pastry team, the 13th Annual Holiday Village will feature 20 gingerbread “real estate” properties and a life-sized, working carousel. The total production time on this intricate display is more than 500 hours and it takes two full days to assemble in the Hotel Lobby. More than 90 pounds (41 kilos) of chocolate, 350 pounds (159 kilos) of sugar and 180 pounds (82 kilos) of flour went into making the display.

“We are thrilled to have created the Holiday Village for 13 consecutive years,” says Daul. “The display has become a holiday tradition for our Hotel guests and families in the Las Vegas community and we are honoured to be a long-standing part of that tradition.”

The display, with its picturesque, snowcapped mountains and lifelike buildings including a bed and breakfast, an old-fashioned bakery and a church, was designed to resemble a quaint village in Daul’s native Alsace, France at Christmas time. Each piece of real estate in the fanciful Holiday Village can be purchased or sponsored by an individual or company. All proceeds benefit Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI), a non-profit, state-of-the-art cancer research and care centre in Southern Nevada. The Holiday Village is free and open to the public. It will be on display through December 25.

Also this holiday season, Daul will once again hold a gingerbread house decorating class for children ages 5 to 12 on Sunday, December 11 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Four Seasons. One of the only interactive holiday events for children on the Las Vegas Strip, this class allows children to don aprons and paper chef’s hats as they work under the pastry team’s direction to assemble replicas of the Hotel’s celebrated Holiday Village.
