Hotel Corporation of India (HCI) has clarified that it has not scrapped its management contract with DB Realty for running the Centaur Lake View Hotel here.
"No order has been passed the management of the HCI scrapping the deal between HCI and DB Realty over offering the unit of Centaur Lake View Hotel Srinagar under management contract to DB Realty," Air India, which owns HCI, said in response to an RTI application. Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat, the General Secretary of the Centaur Hotel Employees' Union Srinagar, had filed an RTI application seeking a copy of the order scrapping the deal between HCI and DB Realty in June this year following media reports to this effect. Employees of Centaur Hotel here are opposing the takeover of the property by DB Realty, fearing that the new management might resort to job cuts. In a reply, Air India public information officer S R Joshi said the hotel was to be taken over by the Jammu and Kashmir government, but the matter was still pending consideration.
