NEWS | Accor to launch three new brands in India by 2012

With three brands already operational across 10 hotels in India, Accor is set to bring three new brands by the end of 2012.
Currently, Novotel, Mercure and ibis are operational and the three new brands, which will debut in the Indian market in 2012 are Sofitel, Pullman and Formule 1. In addition, Accor plans to open nine more hotels under various brands in India by the end of 2012, adding 2,516 rooms to the already existing 2,016 rooms. Plans are afoot to open a Sofitel, a Pullman, two Novotel, five ibis and three Formule 1 in India before the end of 2012. Sofitel, Accor's luxury brand will debut with Sofitel Mumbai Bandra Kurla Complex with 302 guest rooms; Pullman, an upscale hotel brand, designed to meet the requirements of business travellers, with 285 rooms will debut with Pullman Gurgaon Central Park and Formule 1, the EuropĂ©an leader in the low cost segment is scheduled for a debut with the opening of Formule 1 in Greater Noida with 135 rooms. Michael Issenberg, Chairman and COO, Accor Asia-Pacific said, “2011 has been a year of strong performance for Accor in Asia-Pacific, where we will add more than 60 new hotels to the network constituting an additional 11,500 guest rooms.” Commenting on the expansion plans for India, Issenberg added, “Accor is focused on India as a core growth market, where we remain committed to 90 hotels by 2015. It is a market where our number of hotels are more than set to double in 2012 from the existing 10 hotels open at present. While we are placing a significant emphasis on the mid and economy sectors, we are also expanding in the upscale segments.”
