Air India-owned Hotel Corporation of India (HCI) has clarified that it has not scrapped its management contract with DB Realty for running the Centaur Lake View Hotel in Srinagar. In response to an RTI application, the Indian carrier stated that no order has been passed for the management of the HCI scrapping the deal between HCI and DB Realty over offering the unit of Centaur Lake View Hotel Srinagar under management contract to DB Realty, as mentioned in a PTI report.
SR Joshi, Public Information Officer, Air India said, “The hotel was to be taken over by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir as per the directions of the Union Civil Aviation Ministry, but the matter was still under consideration.” Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat, General Secretary, Centaur Hotel Employees' Union Srinagar, had filed an RTI application seeking a copy of the order scrapping the deal between HCI and DB Realty in June this year. Employees of Centaur Lake View Hotel Srinagar are opposing the takeover of the property by DB Realty, fearing that the new management might resort to job cuts.
