READERS of Condé Nast Traveler voted Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai the best hotel in China and one of the top hotels in Asia in the magazine’s 17th annual Gold List of the best places to stay in the world in 2011. Earlier in May, the Hotel topped "Best Hotel in China" award at the Asia Pacific Hotel Awards 2011 as the only hotel to receive this award in mainland China.
Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List is an annotated guide to the world’s finest properties and cruise lines, as selected by more than 25,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers. A questionnaire was available to all readers through a secure website and the hotels were rated on food and dining, location, overall design, rooms and service. To qualify for inclusion in these rankings, a property had to receive a required minimum number of responses. Entries included the edited comments of readers intended to reveal a property’s character rather than to catalogue its facilities. In 2011, Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai received the highest score achieved by any hotel in China since the survey started. The hotel was included in the magazine’s 2010 Gold List, chosen by more than 32,000 readers with the highest score of any hotel in Shanghai, China. The hotel also appeared in the Gold List in 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2005.
