IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) [LON: IHG, NYSE: IHG (ADRs)] announces the opening of the new Holiday Inn North Phoenix, which recently underwent a conversion from a Ramada Plaza hotel. The extensive $4.5 million renovation includes a complete remodeling of the hotel. The first hotel in Phoenix to install a solar water-heating system to provide hot water to the entire property, the new Holiday Inn North Phoenix was developed to be more efficient to build, operate and maintain. Conveniently located just 15 minutes from Sky Harbor International Airport and downtown Phoenix, the new hotel offers 2,750 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center and an outdoor pool with a whirlpool. The new hotel includes features in keeping with the $1 billion Holiday Inn re-launch, the largest project of its kind in the history of the hospitality industry. First announced in 2007, the relaunch program creates a more contemporary brand image as part of the drive to increase quality and consistency across the global portfolio. The program focuses on arrival and welcome services, guestroom and guest bath comfort and a redesigned logo and signage. “We are thrilled to welcome this property to the Holiday Inn family of hotels with the brand new sign and everything it represents.
