NEWS | To focus on markets in India and China, Yum Brands looking to sell Pizza Hut UK

In consistent with its strategy to focus on India, China and Africa, Yum Brands is looking to sell its Pizza Hut UK business. The restaurant giant has appointed accountancy firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) to sell the pizza chain.
The company, which also owns KFC and Taco Bell brands, has hired PwC to run the auction of the Pizza Hut chain, which has 380 restaurants and 320 delivery outlets in the UK. A Yum spokesman said, the company plans to focus on high-growth markets, such as India, China and Africa. Hence, it has decided to "refranchise its entire Pizza Hut UK business and is seeking a single buyer to purchase its company-owned restaurants and to serve as a master franchisee for the market". The move comes five years after Yum paid £112m for the 50 per cent stake held by Whitbread.
