At Accor, Europe's leading hotel chain, Ibis is the considered the „super brand" and with more than 900 a global success story. But also the international development of its premium brand Sofitel is going on by big steps. Currently there are 19 new luxury hotels with a total of 6.500 rooms under construction or planning, the majority in China and the United Arab Emirates. The largest hotel project is the 582-room Sofitel Dubai Sheikh Zayed Road (TOPHOTELPROJECTS Nr. 6205).The opening is scheduled for summer next year. The second biggest hotel project is the Sanya Sofitel Resort Hotel & Villas (TOPHOTELPROJECTS Nr. 12436) with 527 rooms. The opening is foreseen to take place in fall this year. In Germany Sofitel is developing, and it has been a while after their last engagement, a superbly located hotel at the "Old Opera (Alte Oper)" in Frankfurt (TOPHOTELPROJECTS Nr. 1178).The 150-room premium hotel will welcome its first guests in autumn 2014. This fiercely contested project – brands such as Shangri-La, Regent, Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton and Oberoi were hotly favoured in the past – will be developed by Cellsbau with a total investment volume of 33 million Euro. Accor According to TOPHOTELCHAINS Accor operates 4.326 hotels worldwide with the brands Adagio, All Seasons, Mercure, Novotel, Ibis, MGallery, Motel 6, Orbis, Pullman, Formule 1, Sofitel, Studio 6, Suite Novotel and Villages. Accor's currently applies a development and business model whereby properties are sold off to rent them back immediately in return. The „Asset Light"-programme thereby generates cash-flow to pay off debts. Part of the strategy is the conversion of the All Seasons into „Ibis Styles" and to turn the Etap hotel brand into the new „Ibis Budget". Doing this Ibis shall be repositioned as a kind of mega brand. The rebranding shall be completed by 2013.
