Aspri Spirits Pvt Ltd has tied up with Luxemborg-based SPI Group to market and distribute two products of their international Stolichnaya vodka range – Stolichnaya Red premium and Ultra Luxury Elit by Stoli. The company is looking at retail sale and is targeting the mid and upper class segment that is privy to the cocktail culture.
The company believes that the cocktail trend among consumers plays a large role in Stoli vodka consumption. The spirits will be priced at around Rs 1875-2000 per bottle. “The two vodkas have already been launched in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Rajasthan and Chennai, with Kolkata, Chandigarh following shortly,” revealed Sumedh Singh Mandla, CEO – core brands, Aspri Spirits Pvt Ltd. According to Frank Cohen, Regional Director Asia Pacific, SPI Spirits (Cyprus) Ltd, Stoli vodkas have been available in India in the past in 2008, when they had a global tie up with Pernod Ricard. “At the time due to certain issues we had to withdraw from India and have been keen to re-enter the market with someone who has through knowledge about the Indian market and can advise us accordingly. We now have that opportunity with Aspri,” he added. Speaking about the marketing strategy of Stoli, Mandla said, “The product is available in most five star hotels in the cities that have seen the launch of Stoli. We will also have our presence in select retail stores in these eight markets. Once we witness a substantial growth in visibility and sales we will increase the number of cities available and will hopefully grow from about 50 select stores to about 300 stores across India.” Cohen further added that Stoli is here for a long haul and will, hence, be very pragmatic and focused about where and how they sell their products in the key Indian cities.
