Faridabad is becoming the next hot spot for new hospitality players who have opened up in the region and are now doing good business. The scenario at present is a far cry from around thirty years back when in 1980s there was a solitary Hotel Rajhans, run by state tourism corporation. At present the region is home to brands such as Taj Group, Park and The Claridges besides others. The business in these hotels has largely been coming from domestic inbound tourists and business travellers from the neighbouring Delhi and Gurgaon.
"By one rough estimate,
the hotel industry in Faridabad has shown 40 per cent annual growth of late," Sudhir Chauhan, district town planner of the township, says in a report by Economic Times. "And in the coming years, when Metro, national highways and Badarpur bypass improve its connectivity, you will see more activity in the hospitality sector here." According to Chauhan, there are already new hotel projects, like SRC group's in Palwal, taking a concrete shape in and around the township. Hoteliers are targeting varied client groups to improve their profit ratios. From corporate visitors to nearby Gurgaon and Delhi, to local tourists, these properties are using competitive pricing, innovative packages and festivals to keep the booking registers flapping. "We are catering to Delhi and Gurgaon markets by and large," says Saibal Sengupta, General Manager, Park Plaza. "But to lure the local upscale clients, we have food festivals, IPL nights and other promotional events from time to time. The latest of these events is lawns & banquet services at our Geoffrey bar."
