NEWS | Country Club India Ltd forays into wellness segment; to invest Rs 350 cr


Country Club India Ltd (CCIL), India’s largest leisure infrastructure conglomerate that offers state-of-the-art clubbing facilities, innovative family holiday packages has forayed into the wellness segment with the opening of Country Club Fitness Centre at Juhu in Mumbai today. With an investment of Rs 350 crore, plans are afoot to open 100 fitness centres in four years in India and abroad. With three lakh members and 55 owned properties across India, the Middle East,
Bangkok and Sri Lanka, CCIL is looking at adding 100 resorts in three-four years in India and globally. Speaking exclusively to Hospitality Biz about CCIL’s expansion plan, Rajeev Reddy, Chairman, CCIL, said, “The upcoming resorts will be a mix of joint ventures and takeovers. Although, our focus will be adding resorts in North and North Eastern part of India, we will be looking at having resorts at Tier II and Tier III cities as well. We are also exploring opportunities to open resorts at Africa, London, New York, Poland and Mauritius. We have offices in Sri Lanka, Dubai and Bangkok and have recently opened offices in Africa, London and New York.” The newly launched fitness centre was inaugurated by Bollywood actor Aarti Chhabria. Reddy said, “The launch of this fitness centre is part of CCIL’s Rs 350 crore expansion plan. The fitness centres will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and qualified trainers. Each fitness centre will have dedicated booking desk for members to chalk out vacation plans at ease. We will invest Rs 3.5 crore in each fitness centre and size of each centre will range between 4000-10000 square feet.” Varun Reddy, COO, CCIL, said, “By the end of November this year, we shall open nine fitness centres in cities including Jaipur, Nagpur, Thane (Mumbai) and also Abu Dhabi. We plan to open 10-15 fitness centres in Mumbai and New Delhi.” In the first phase CCIL intends to focus on multiple locations in major metros including Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai. Thereafter, CCIL foray into Tier II cities with the aim of establishing a pan India presence.
