Tilaknagar Industries (TI) Ltd recently announced its corporate growth and expansion plans for the Eastern market. A market leader in the South, TI manufactures over 40 brands across a diverse range of price and product segments, and its flagship brand Mansion House Whisky (MHW) dominates the southern market with 42 per cent market share.
At an event held to formally unveil its flagship whiskey brand, MHW in Kolkata, TI announced that it will be stepping-up its initiatives in the East. “For a while, we have been focusing on this zone. We have increased the number of manufacturing facilities from two to five units and increased our footprint in East by starting operations in Sikkim, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Bihar. The market response was encouraging and sales witnessed growth of 65 per cent in FY12. On top of this the eastern region is growing by 69 per cent year-on-year,” said K Laxmi Narasimhan, Deputy Managing Director, Tilaknagar Industries Ltd.
“Almost 60 per cent of our growth in the East is powered by whisky. TI’s Senate Royale Whisky has been receiving an excellent response and is closely competing with the established brands its segment and has become the second largest selling whisky in Odisha as we speak,” said Narasimhan.
By the end of the next fiscal year, MHW expects to capture 8 to 10 per cent of the market share in the eastern states. The current national market size of the segment is estimated at around 14 million cases per annum. MHW is made from the purest Scotch malts aged to perfection, in oak casks and blended with the finest Indian grain spirit. It comes in a striking copper and gold packaging.
