NEWS | MoT sanctions Rs 4.40-crore Ecotourism project in Khanapur, Karnataka


Keeping the tourism potential of Belagavi (Belgaum) district of Karnataka in view, the Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India has sanctioned a project, ‘Ecotourism Resort in Khanapur Forest area’, at Rs 4.40 crore and released a sum of Rs 3.52 crore as first instalment during 2010-11 to the Government of Karnataka. Development and promotion of various tourism destinations and products are primarily the responsibility of the State Government/Union Territory (UT) Administration. However,
the MoT provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for tourism projects identified in consultation with them, subject to availability of funds, inter-se-priority and adherence to the scheme guidelines, said Dr K Chiranjeevi, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Tourism, Government of India, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
