The New Zealand (NZ) Government recently conferred Sir Edmund Hillary Fellowship for 2012 on Indian chef, Kunal Kapur. Chef Kapur is the Executive Sous Chef at Leela Kempinski Gurgaon. He is also a host and judge on India's television show,
MasterChef India. The Fellowship was presented by David Carter, Minister for Primary Industries, Government of New Zealand, who was leading a business delegation of New Zealand food and beverage and agri-tech companies in India last month. Chef Kapur will travel to New Zealand next year to take up the Fellowship.
The Sir Edmund Hillary Fellowship is a tribute to the special contribution made by Sir Edmund Hillary to New Zealand's bilateral relationships with India and Nepal. Previous recipients of the Fellowship include Rahul Gandhi, Member of Parliament, in 2010.
