Several hotels coming up on a road alongside the runway of Delhi airport, including some all set to welcome guests, face indefinite delay in opening because of some tough security suggestions raised by city cops that include chopping off a couple of floors and turning windows that face airport into concrete walls.
Industry insiders say while the Delhi Police remain adamant on its demand,
the civil aviation ministry has asked these hotels to seek clearance from Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the regulatory authority for civil aviation security in India.
As many as 13 hotels, with 5,500 rooms, are coming up in Aerocity at an estimated cost of Rs 10,000 crore, after getting government nod nearly four years ago to build these properties on land acquired through long-term lease agreements with the GMRowned Delhi
