JW Marriott Opens First Hotel in Austin
JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts opened its first property in Austin today, approximately two and a half years after the hotel first broke ground. The 34-story JW Marriott Austin is not only the largest hotel in Austin, but also the largest JW Marriott in North America and the second-largest JW Marriott in the world.
J W Marriott hotel in Kolkata to be operational by October 2015
US-based J W Marriott would operationalise its first hotel in the city by October 2015, an official of Mani Group said.
"We will hand over the property to J W Marriott by June 2015. Then it will take about three months time for the hotel to start operations," Sanjay Jhunjhuwala, chairman of Mani Group, told the media.
Mani Group is developing the property on arterial E M Bypass Road, which would be managed by J W Marriott.

She has spent over a decade at Marriott Hotels, starting in 1998, and brings with her experience in various positions across different Marriott brands. In her current role, Thakur will be responsible for the imminent opening of the hotel and will oversee and drive operations of the property, as per a release.

A graduate from Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Viswanathan has been in the hospitality industry for nine years now. He has worked with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, and Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces. He began his career as a Hotel Operations Trainee at JW Marriott, Mumbai, and has also worked with Courtyard by Marriott, Chennai.

A 25-year hospitality industry veteran, Blalock brings extensive operational, sales and administrative experience to the JW Marriott Austin. He has worked for the hotel's developer, White Lodging, since 2006 after more than 18 years of service with Marriott International. Blalock has a strong background in successfully managing convention hotels. He was a member of the opening team of the Marriott San Antonio Rivercenter Convention Hotel, general manager of the Marriott Indianapolis Downtown Convention Hotel, and opened the JW Marriott Indianapolis as vice president and general manager.
