Accor Foundation, which handles Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of Accor Group, on Friday launched a vocational hospitality training programme for underprivileged children in New Delhi. This has been unveiled in association with HOPE India, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) linked with US-headquartered HOPE, an international NGO.
Under the programme, Accor will train 35 underprivileged children in two hospitality courses - kitchen and housekeeping.
We are already running similar programmes in 35 countries worldwide,” Bizet added.
“These courses are giving huge job opportunities today in the industry. Thus underprivileged children who complete this course will be getting entry-level job placement at reputed hospitality institutions including Accor. Accor will give them extensive practical training in their studied topics,” said Ashwin A Shirati, Regional Director of Human Resources – Accor.
Shirati informed, “The main criteria for selecting students are the candidate should have completed ten years of schooling, they should be from very poor socio-economic background and have an aptitude to learn.”
