NEWS| Haryana to charge luxury tax on actual tariff

Conceding to the persistent demand by hoteliers’ associations in Haryana, the state government has agreed to consider the actual tariff for calculation of luxury tax (LT) from the hospitality units operating in the state. According to Manbir Choudhary, President, Hotel & Restaurant Association of Haryana (HRAH), the notification to this effect has been made by the state's taxation department two weeks back.




The hoteliers in the state had been paying 10 per cent luxury tax on the printed tariff so far, while they were selling rooms much below the printed tariff during most part of the year. “We took up the matter in our meeting with Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Minister, Haryana as well as A K Singh, Excise & Taxation Commissioner, Haryana and succeeded in convincing them,” Choudhary said.
