IHCL rebrands existing hotels in Sri Lanka

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), one of South Asia's largest hospitality groups and among the world's leading hotel chains, has announced new brand architecture for its hotels in Sri Lanka. Addressing a press conference in Colombo recently, Raymond Bickson, Managing Director and CEO, Indian Hotels Company Ltd, Ajoy K Misra- Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, IHCL, Anil P Goel- Executive Director, Finance, IHCL and Abhijit Mukerjee - Executive Director, Operations, IHCL, presented the new brand structure and announced the rollover of their existing hotels to the new brands.


According to the company release, under the new brand architecture, the Taj Exotica in Bentota has migrated to Vivanta by Taj, in the Upper Upscale category, and will now be known as Vivanta by Taj – Bentota, Sri Lanka, and the Airport Garden Hotel will migrate to The Gateway Hotels, in the Upscale category effective January 2011, and will be called The Gateway Hotel – Airport Garden, Colombo.

Addressing the press conference, Raymond Bickson, Managing Director & CEO, Indian Hotels Company Ltd, said, "Sri Lanka is a beautiful country and inevitably among the most picturesque tourist destinations in the world. Taj has been among the first hospitality entrants in this country and today we wish to commit ourselves to a renewed relationship with Sri Lanka. In an effort to synergise our core competence and to globally adhere to uniform service, ambience and experience, we have restructured our brand architecture over the last seven years. Today two of our existing hotels in Sri Lanka will migrate to the new brands."
