Chef Hemant Oberoi, Grand Executive Chef, Taj Mahal Palace & Towers, Mumbai, has been bestowed with the 'Special Life Time Achievement' award at the seventh Annual Chef Awards organised jointly by Indian Culinary Forum (ICF) and PHD Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi recently.
The award ceremony marked the culmination of a week long gourmet exhibition and culinary trade competitions at different parts of the NCR, marking the International Chef Day celebrations.
While Chef Vikram Khatri of Ai Restaurant New Delhi won the 'Chef of the Year' award, Aarti Thapa of IHM Gurdaspur bagged the coveted 'Lady Chef of the Year' award for 2010. Although there were nominations for 'Golden Hat Chef Awards', the jury decided to not give the award in this category this year.
The organising committee did not reveal reasons for not picking up anybody for this award. At the same time, 'Silver Hat Chef Award' was bagged by Chef Mahesh Kumar Sharma, Executive Chef, Le Meridien, Jaipur. For the first time, 'Student Chef of the Year' award was also instituted, and Ankit Malhotra of IHM Gurdaspur won the same.
