HolidayIQ.com, a holiday information portal, witnessed 10 fold increase in its holiday booking enquiries and online booking searches in December 2012 year on year. The portal generated holiday booking enquiries and online booking searches worth close to Rs 250 crores in December 2012 against Rs 20 crore in the same period last year.
While 70 per cent of these transactions were for hotel bookings, 30 per cent were for booking all-inclusive holiday packages.
Of all of these transactions generated, online travel agencies garnered 55 per cent share and traditional travel agents got 45 per cent.

While 7000 of these hotels are bookable online through HolidayIQ.com on major online travel agencies, the remaining are bookable though a big national network of traditional (offline) travel agencies created specifically for this purpose.
