The new countries proposed for extending VoA scheme are Germany, France, Spain, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Brazil, South Africa, Trinidad & Tobago, Thailand, Malaysia and Brunei. Furthermore, the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has proposed extension of VoA to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, Goa, Bodhgaya and Trivandrum airports.
Keeping in mind the recent travel trends, MoT has also proposed VoA scheme for citizens of South Korea, which is a very important tourist generating market.MoT has argued that VoA is an attraction for potential tourists in key markets and at times also helps in tapping people who make decisions at the last moment. The Ministry of Home Affairs is considering this issue of extending VoA to the 16 countries.
